The hero sleeps.....
I had to share this photo of Mr. Ben and the story of how he saved a life. It has been a couple weeks, but Mr. Ben's bravery will never be forgotten. A couple Sundays ago, Mr. Ben was with his family at his cousins house. Most everyone was inside playing games except for Mr. Ben, Ava, and Mrs. Ben (Ben's mommy :). They were outside playing with a ball with the dog. Ben and Ava would throw the ball and the dog would run and get it. The dog got tired and hopped into the pool for a quick swim to cool off. When she did, the ball went in the pool with her. Ben got the leaf net and retrieved the ball and gave it to Ava. Ava threw the ball back into the pool for the dog, then went in after it. She was on the first step and was ok, but then as Mrs. Ben was getting closer, Ava was off the steps and into the water WAY above her head. This is from Mrs. Ben's journal " I hollered at Ben to get her(he was closer and faster than I was) he went in chest high to save her, she had gone under 2X by the time he got to her. He got to her got her out, I took her in the house to her mom, and told them what happened.
That sure was a scarry couple of moments for me, Ben was very calm and cool headed, did just they taught him in scouts"
Ben is now eligible for the "Heroism Award" from Boy Scouts of America. It is a special award for "demonstrating heroism and skill in saving or attempting to save life at minimum risk to self".
Way to go Mr. Ben! I am so proud of you!!!
