Last month the kids and I were able to go spend some time with my family in Chicago. One of the goal were to get family pictures.

Grammy and Grandpa with all the grandkids

It was cicada time, there weren't nearly as many while we were there, but still enough to see and play with. S called them "suffocate-ahs)

Trees to climb

"Baby" cousins to meet and hold, or be terrorized by, depends on the perspective :)

Beautiful skyline from the SHEDD Aquarium. We had never been there before and it was FANTASTIC! Huge thanks to grammy and grandpa for thinking this trip up!

Beluga Whale

Above are shark eggs. You can see the yolk that they feed off of inside, and the little developing shark. The eggs were about 4 inches long.

One of the fun things about going to G&G Wooly's is the toys. Grammy kept all the kids toys, so now the grandkids get to enjoy them. Of course S had never ridden a Big Wheel before. C was resourceful in riding the small bike using his hands to pedal.

Blogger has decided to rearrange my photos, so the story is a little mixed up.

We went to the dolphin show at the SHEDD and it was GREAT! We tried and tried to get pictures of them, this was as good as it got.

The SHEDD is right on Lake Michigan and the dolphin tank is right next to the water making a beautiful view.

The penguins were nesting. We got to see them move the eggs around, just like in Happy Feet, and watch them move rocks to add to their nests, It was pretty fascinating.

Dad at work.

The day lillies are so pretty. I thought it was really nice of the neighbors to plant them for my parents to enjoy :)

We had a yummy picnic lunch at the SHEDD.

Out front

These Stingrays were in a tank under your feet. There were also some in the main aquarium, I have to find those photos.

Another place we went to was the train museum in Union. It was green and lightly dripping outside. We had another great picnic.

And got to see lots of nicely preserved train cars. We were able to walk through several of them. It made a bid enough impression that the kids would like to take Amtrak somewhere. I will put that research on my "to do" list.
We take a 45 minute train ride on the "demonstration track". We were fortunate enough to ride one of the electric cable cars.

Afterwards we stopped at DQ.

Nothing like ice cream to make you smile!
