Westward ho......

For some must push and some must pull...
Today was the start of a 4 day journey recreating the handcart pioneers of 1846 to the 1890's who traveled west from Nauvoo Illinois to settle in the American West. About 70,000 pioneers made the trek in covered wagons or on horseback to the Salt Lake Valley. Another 3,000 came by handcart.
These boys and girls from our church will be recreating the journey of those who came by handcart.

This photo was of some teenagers that pulled a handcart 8 miles in one day in October. The way I understood it, our kids would pull about 15 miles today. It is cooling off and we are getting rain tonite. I hope they stay warm.
