The Final Countdown.....
At the beginning of tonite's game, the announcer said it seemed very fitting that here on Veterans Day, the Pat Tillman Football Federation was playing for the Championship. It was also the eve of his jersey being inducted into the "circle" at ASU. Our friend 48 had his arm broken in a football game earlier in the week. We really missed him on the line at tonites game! Heal quickly 48!
The Bears scored in the second quarter, and held the other team into the fourth quarter. There were less then 3 minutes on the clock when the Special Forces got a goal. The last 30 seconds of the game seemed to go on forever. We call those "football minutes" which are different from "clock" or "regular people" minutes. At the end of the fourth quarter, there was a 5 minute break. We weren't sure how they would handle a tie. There hadn't been one before in a championship game in this league. It goes into "Sudden Death". Each team gets 4 plays and whoever gains the most yards, or has the most touchdowns wins.
We had the ball first, and made a touchdown on the third play. The other team got the ball and there were a few penalties. I am not sure what all went on but there was lots of people waving arms and throwing flags etc. This went on for all 4 of their plays. They did not get a touchdown so...
We are the Champions!!!!!
All the players got a medal tonite, and there will be an awards ceremony sometime later. My boy played a good game. He hurt his shoulder when he hit the wall F1 Formula Racing earlier in the week, and he didn't mention it too much until practice, but thought it was feeling pretty good, but it started hurting tonite after a few tackles. It looked like his shoulder was in a different place on one side then the other, so I will probably get that looked at next week.
Last but not least, a happy scrappy moment......
This was Baby H's first football game, and the second for M. The Baby wasn't very interested in what was going on, but she was happy. M follows the game really well. She knows when to clap and can sing the fight song! Go Bears Go!
