My Sweetie and I took a Tamale class from our favorite cooking store. We thought it would be something quick and easy to keep in the freezer ready to eat. We also thought it would be fun to make them with the family. Have you ever heard the story of "The Little Red Hen"? Yeah, well, for some reason those that eat the most helped the least, but were the first in line to eat when they were done. Well, don't get me wrong, one tried to argue the point of "My contribution will be taste testing, just to make sure you did it right. It is the only life or death part of making them, could die, I am RISKING MY LIFE to make sure my family is safe". That didn't go over so well with us. We took the risk ourselves.
The masa is ready to go and the husks are soaked.
Tony is getting the parchment paper all ready to go.
We made green chile and corn tamales and green chile meat tamales. This is for the meat ones.
All wrapped up ready to be cooked. They are delicious and we plan on making alot more later in January now that we have the process down.
